Dear Shenandoah Families,

Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you well. We appreciate your continued support and trust in our school community and programs.
I am writing to inform you that, due to essential maintenance projects and upgrades to the school building scheduled over the summer, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue our summer camp program for this year. These maintenance efforts are critical to ensuring a safe, updated, and welcoming environment for our students and staff when we return for the new academic year.
Shenandoah’s summer camp was initially created several years ago as a fundraiser for the school. In recent years, well deserved teacher pay increases have made it challenging to sustain the camp at an affordable cost to parents and avoid financial losses for the school. We understand the impact this decision may have on your summer plans and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your family.
To support families seeking alternative summer activities, Parkview Elementary will offer a summer camp at their school location. Ms. Carrie Marsala, the director in past years of Shenandoah’s Summer Camp, will serve as the director of Parkview’s Summer Camp. Parkview is still finalizing details about their camp, and will be sending out information in the coming weeks. We will pass this on to you as soon as it is available.
We are deeply grateful for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the needs of our school community. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 225-753-3560.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth H. Callegan, Principal
