Good evening Shenandoah Family,
Today we finished our first week of LEAP testing. The third graders did an amazing job. We were able to finish most of our DIBELS testing for Kindergarten through 3rd grade. We will be completing fourth grade next week.
Prek through 3rd grade will have field trips next week, as the 4th and 5th graders begin their LEAP testing. Please make sure to be on time to school, so field trips are not missed and testing is not disturbed.
4th and 5th graders should not bring a backpack or cellphone, but they can bring a water bottle. Make sure to get a good night's sleep so you can do your best. Due to test security, please remember visitors are not allowed on campus.
Today a letter from the East Baton Rouge school system interim superintendent, Adam Smith, went home regarding the principal vacancy at Shenandoah Elementary. This included the next steps of the next principal selection. There is a link to a survey to nominate yourself or others for the interview committee. This link is located on the school website and app.
More details for the Shenandoah summer camp and tutoring will be released early next week.
Please have an amazing weekend and thank you for your continued support.

Hello parents! Testing season at Shenandoah continues as we move into our second week of DIBELS. First, we want to send a massive thanks to our students for a wonderful first week of DIBELS! They did an amazing job of keeping quiet as their peers completed their DIBELS tests. Our kindergarten and 1st graders have completed their DIBELS testing, and we will continue testing on Monday.
Secondly, our 3rd Grade LEAP Week begins on Monday, so please make sure your children are well rested and prepared.
Remember that the school is on a testing lockdown which means no visitors are allowed on campus after 8:30am. Please make sure your child arrives before the 8:30 bell so they can get breakfast and prepare to move to their testing site. Students arriving after 8:30 will be tardy and must be signed in and escorted to class by a staff member. Third grade students should not bring cell phones, smart watches, or backpacks to school during this upcoming LEAP week. No checkouts are allowed during testing sessions, so please refrain from checking your child out early. Encourage your child. You know your child best; they may need encouragement to work hard or calming words of love and support. Let them know that you are proud of them and confident in their ability to succeed.
Lastly, it is the time of year where we are preparing for the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony! Because it's always so fun to see how much our students have grown, we put together a slideshow with a baby picture and a current picture of our 5th graders. In order to participate, please send a baby picture and a picture with your child’s name to Ms. Anna Jackson at ajackson21@ebrschools.org by April 24, 2024. Today, your child will have a participation handout. Please sign it to acknowledge your consent for your child's picture to be included in the slideshow.
Please refer to the app for summer camp changes. The camp will be at Parkview elementary this summer.
Shenandoah Family, we only have SIX more Mondays of school, and as we get closer to the end of the school year, we have to continue to soar like the Eagles we are. We have some trying weeks ahead of us, but there’s nothing we Eagles can’t do or overcome! Have a great weekend, and we will see you on Monday!
